Self-onboard as a merchant
When Merchant App is installed on a merchant's smartphone or smart POS device, the merchant can onboard with little to no assistance. Merchant App guides them through a simple sign-up process of supplying the KYC data required by their e-money provider. As soon as they finish, they're ready to log in and get started.
Practising alongside? You'll need:
- A smartphone or appropriate POS device
- Merchant App installed
- Access to the system that retrieves one-time PINs (if your mobile network provider doesn't support receiving SMS messages from the e-money system)
STEPS
1. Open Merchant App and select Sign up.
The Personal tab displays.
2. Select the profile image placeholder and capture a profile photo with your camera.
3. Enter your required personal details.
For example:
- First name
- Last name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Date of birth
4. Continue to the Address tab.
5. Enter your required business address details.
For example:
- Business name
- Address
- City
- Country
6. Continue to the Security tab.
7. Answer a few security questions.
For example:
- Mother's maiden name

8. Enter a unique PIN for your account.
9. Continue to the ID tab.
10. Supply your required identification details.
For example:
- Type of identification

Note: This might also include taking a photo of your identification card and signing your signature on-screen.
11. Open and review the terms and conditions and privacy policy.
You can then select the associated switch buttons to signal your agreement.
12. Continue to the Review tab.
13. Review and submit your information.
The system generates a one-time PIN. If set up to, it will send this to your phone number via SMS. Otherwise, you can find this in your system back end.
14. Enter your one-time PIN.
The system creates a new merchant e-money account with your phone number and PIN as your login credentials. Merchant App displays the PIN-entry login screen.
